UK Plugs and Fuses are a painWhy do UK 13A plugs always come with a 13A fuse in them? Most things that use mains power are low-powered devices anyway; applying the fail-safe principle would lead to the universal adoption of 3A fuses as the default. Not only that, appliances invariably arrive with a sticky plastic label on the mains lead near the plug end giving full instructions on how to wire a plug. This is fairly pointless since all appliances now arrive with the plug already fitted and people who don't know how to wire a plug can find out quite easily from numerous sources, like the appliance's instruction book. When the sticky label is removed, it usually leaves a horrible sticky residue of glue. Unless this is cleaned off with detergent, it attracts muck and dust. When will manufacturers stop these ridiculous practices? It's all part of 'political correctness gone mad', if you include health and safety bullshit as a part of the disease. | |
