LifeguardBy James Patterson Thrilling, escapist, shallow, yet engrosing fantasty. Perfect holiday pulp fiction, which is where I read it. This is a fun yet scary adventure in the same vein as Columbo or Rohl Dahl's Anglia TV Tales of the unexpected. Growing the famous TV series' genre, Patterson takes us on a roller-coaster thrill-ride through Miami's billionaire owning- and working-class, honest and criminal, who support them. Our mostly-innocent hero has to go on the run, dodging hit men and frame-ups as he puts the pieces together of what really went wrong that fateful night when his perfect life fell violently apart. I look forward with relish to the inevitable movie adaptation.
