I bought my daughter a bed from heli beds last Decemer (2005) and in December this year it collapsed in the middle, the wood split, phoned the shop and the man said he would send someone out to look at the bed. That night because the main bed was broken we pulled the under bed out which to that point had never been used and low and behold the next morning that too had broke in exactly the same place as the main bed . Looking at both bases it is obvious that they were cheaply made with thin cheap wood but covered with material so as to hide the poor workmanship. My daughter has a geneic condition and has to wear hand and leg splints at night which are not comforable so i obviously want her bedtime to be a comfortable as possible so because both beds were now broken and the only other choice was for her to sleep on the floor I nailed a piece of wood across the broken area to stengthen the base so she was able to have a bed to sleep on until this person came out to view the now 2 beds. This man came looked, AGREED that it was a fault and went away with a letter I had written asking if it would be possible to have just a normal base . The actual base was £270 all I wanted was a sturdy one not a worry about money being refunded i just wanted a bed base. Got a phone call saying i had made the gurantee void as I had tried to mend it .... i then wrote to the head man and what a waste of space he was. He obviousy didn't read the letter i wrote becaus he said I should have phoned the shop before trying to mend it .. I had done that. I was told that there was a base on offer at the moment and as a gesture of good will I could buy that and not have to pay a delivery charge !!! what a cheek! The base on offer was £59.00 if a £270.00 base was crap, I dread to think what a £59.00 one was like... I too would never use heli beds again i also tell everyone possible what an awful company they are and I think it is disgusting the way they don't help anyone.
