story
by Madhurya-kadambini dev… d€s…
It was during the night in the very early morning hours. I was feeling restless in my dreamless sleep. In a state between sleep and wakefulness, being only half conscious, suddenly the small form of Lord Jagann€tha appeared before me.
Lord Jagann€tha appeared in a very demanding mood, as if he was looking for me to chastise or ask for something. Immediately I became completely conscious. I was astonished, and couldn’t believe what had just happened. I sat up in my bed and turned on my small light. "What was this?", I thought. "His presence was so real and so was his mood." When I looked at my watch it was not even 2 o’clock in the morning. Somewhat bewildered I thought, "anyway maybe that was just a dream."
I turned off the light again in order to get a little more rest, but it didn’t work. So I decided to get up and chant my rounds. I took shower, dressed myself, chanted my g€yatr… and then japa. Usually I’m happy when I manage to get up early to chant my rounds. - In the recent past that hasn’t happened so often. Generally I’m up just before waking the Deities. So I just felt thankful to Lord Jagann€tha that this time He woke me up. Sometime around three o’clock I went to the p™j€r… room to check the yogurt which I had hung last evening for Źr…k€nta. I turned on the light and then: what a surprise! There, on the table were the water cups which are supposed to be on the altar. So here we are, that’s the problem. I realized that the night before, the p™jar… forgot to put the Lords drinking water on the altar. So Lord Jagann€tha became thirsty. Immediately I went on the altar to give water to Lord Jagann€tha.
Maybe it was just my imagination, but I felt strongly that Lord Jagann€tha was thirsty.
